The Guardian considers the future of “green” schools, claiming that today children are learning about how to be green in the context of an unsustainable environment. In green schools in Bali, for example, children are not only learning about environmental sustainability, they are living it. The founder of this school says, “[Students] are not in an air-conditioned climate, the school is off the grid [powered by solar energy], there is a vegetable plot next to the classroom and the animals eat the scraps from lunch. So it’s a learning-by-living concept rather than an intellectual chalk-and-talk.”
