Edtech projects apparently falter in British schools. An exhibition on the future of technology in education, hosted by The Guardian newspaper, produced a thoughtful discussion on the effects, positive and negative of using new technologies in the classroom. A summary by Professor Margaret Cox. Her key things to remember when using tech in schools include: think about how it can be made available to all children; do not underrate other kinds of activities children can learn from; focus on creating better “self-learners”; and, perhaps most importantly, focus on getting children to improve their thinking skills. After all, Cox said, “the most powerful computer is still the brain.”
